Privacy at Climer
Short version: Climer collects the minimum data needed to give you a learning experience and to know whether the product is working. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. The longer version is below.
Three commitments that don't change
- Free for learners, forever. No paywall, no premium tier gating learning.
- No ads. Climer will never carry advertising. Not in lessons, not in news, not anywhere.
- No data selling. Your data is not for sale and never will be. There is no business model on this site that involves your data being purchased by anyone.
Whether Climer ends up structured as a nonprofit or a for-profit, those three commitments are foundational and don't change. If they ever do — they won't, but if — you'll see a notice on next sign-in and a dated update at the top of this page.
What we collect
Marketing site (climer.ai)
- Vercel Analytics: aggregate page views, country (city-level only), referrer, and device type. No cookies. No fingerprinting. No data sold.
- No cookies set by us. Your browser may receive a session cookie from Vercel for performance reasons; that cookie does not identify you.
App (app.climer.ai)
- Account data: email and (optional) name, handled by Clerk, our authentication provider. Clerk's privacy policy applies to that data.
- Progress data: which lessons you've completed, your altitude (XP), streak count, and chosen route. Stored in Clerk's
unsafeMetadatafield, attached to your user record. Not used for advertising. Not shared. - Vercel Analytics: same aggregate, cookieless analytics as above.
- Vercel Speed Insights: performance metrics (page load times, layout shifts) attached to each route. No personal data.
What we don't do
- We don't run advertising trackers (no Google Ads, no Meta Pixel, no LinkedIn Insight Tag).
- We don't sell your data. There is no business model that involves your data being purchased by anyone.
- We don't fingerprint your device.
- We don't read or train on your in-app inputs. Climer is a learning app — we don't operate an LLM.
Third parties
We use a small number of third-party services that may receive limited data:
- Clerk — authentication and user metadata storage. Clerk's privacy policy
- Vercel — hosting, analytics, speed insights. Vercel's privacy policy
- Cloudflare — DNS for the climer.ai domain. Cloudflare's privacy policy
- Google Fonts — Fraunces and Outfit, served from fonts.googleapis.com. Loading a font discloses your IP to Google. Google's privacy policy
Children
Climer is intended for users 13 and older. If you're under 13 in the US, please use Climer with a parent or guardian setting up the Clerk account on your behalf — see Clerk's parental consent flow.
Your rights
- Access: see your account data anytime in the app's Profile screen.
- Export: email us and we'll export your progress data within 30 days.
- Deletion: delete your account from Profile → Settings, or email us. Deletion is permanent and removes your progress, streak, altitude, and account record.
